African Union high representative for infrastructure development
Raila Odinga has condemned the xenophobic attacks in South Africa that have
seen hundreds of foreign nationals evacuate from the country.
The Former Kenya Prime Minister says the attacks are eroding gains made over the years to unite the continent. Odinga is now urging African leaders to condemn the attacks and take measures to bring the menace to an end.
Speaking in Nairobi at the close of the 42nd General Council of the Organization of African Trade Union Unity, Odinga said the attacks could adversely affect the recently established African Continental Free Trade Area that seeks to develop the continent through intra-Africa trade.
