A 1-year and five months old baby allegedly drowned in a bucket of Oshikundu (traditional drink) at Okafitukasisia village in Omusati region over the weekend.
The Namibian Police has identified the deceased as Ndamono Aina Nangolo and the next of kin were informed as police investigations continues.
The police also opened a docket of inquest after it is alleged that Jackson Ndailikana Nghitotelwa (1 year old) was found dead after he drowned in a bucket of water on Sunday around 10:35 at Eengonyo village.
According to the police, on Sunday at about 16h00 at Okaloko village, in Omusati region, it is alleged that Shoombe Wilbard Kondjeni Tangeni (8) drowned in a water-well while they were looking after cattle with other children. No foul play is suspected.
At Ondangwa at around 05:00 on Saturday at Ongenga Village, it is alleged that Jesaya Tangeni Shaanika (3 months old) died in the mother’s sleeping room.
“At Omhito village, Omundaungilo Constituency, it is alleged that a seven year old girl was raped by her 18 year old cousin.
“The suspect allegedly found the victim looking after the livestock in the grazing area during the afternoon, he followed her and had sexual intercourse with her by force.
“On one occasion the suspect found the victim sleeping in her room during the night and he had sexual intercourse with her by force. It is further alleged that the suspect and the victim resides in the same house. The suspect has fled and not yet arrested.”
Also on Saturday at Outapi at around 18:00 at Onawa village in Omusati Region, it is alleged that Shilongo Aini (11), a learner at Kriopas Ndumeni Combined School, died after she was struck by a lightning while walking in the Mahangu field.
“On Friday at about 14:45 at Okuryangava Informal Settlement, a 25 year old male was arrested after he attempted to sell a pangolin skin to a member of Women & Men Network,” the police said.
“The skin is valued at N$50 000 and it was seized. The suspect appeared in the Katutura Magistrate Court on Monday. Police investigations continues.”
In Karasburg on Saturday between 03h00 and 04:00, it is alleged that a 28 year old female was raped by man aged 49 years old.
It is further alleged that the suspect grabbed the victim from behind, held her down and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The suspect was arrested and both were taken to the hospital for medical examination.
“On Friday at about 23:00 at Farm Mbombai, it is alleged that a 40 years old male who is a farm worker was shot in the left leg while stealing maize from his employer’s field.
“He was transported to Tsumeb State Hospital where he is admitted in a stable condition. The suspect, a 43 years old male was arrested and the rifle used was confiscated. The suspect appeared in the Tsumeb Magistrate Court on Monday.”
On Saturday at Uupindi location at around 18:00, a 39 year old female was arrested after she was found in possession of seven cans of 25 liters of petrol valued at N$2 100.
She will appeared in the Oshakati Magistrate Court on Monday.
“On Saturday at about 09:00 at Uutsathima village in Omusati Region, it is alleged that a 34 year old male sustained serious injuries after he was assaulted with a knob kerrie several times on the head. He is admitted at the Oshakati intermediate hospital and his condition is stable.
“A 49 year old Angolan male was arrested and he will appeared in the Okahao Magistrate Court on Monday.”
